Primary Care Data Reporting system (PCDR)
This system is a method of extracting data which can take specific,
defined information from GP systems in a safe, secure and effortless way.
The PCTs in Avon are hoping that the system will enable them to get useful
information to support the local delivery plan, diabetic retinopathy
services, risk stratification and provide health intelligence to PCT and
practice staff in an easy to read format in the mode of web available
information dashboards.
Avon Information Management and Technology Consortium (IM&T) has been
working with the Local Medical Council and have agreed a set of controls so
that the system is implemented securely and to ensure that patient
information is protected. The system is being piloted at a number of
practices across Avon at the moment to check that the installation,
management and sign up processes are clear and run smoothly.
In the next months we hope to sign up practices to the project, which is
optional and no data is taken without permission. We hope that practices
will sign up and use the system, and also help us develop it to become more
useful to us all.
