Bedminster
- A part time salaried GP is required from the beginning of October
2008 for four sessions a week including on-call (no out-of-hours) and to
share in providing cover for Saturday mornings and extended weekday hours in
an expanding training and teaching practice with five partners and an
associate (salaried) GP. It is PMS, paper-light (EMIS LV5), and has
excellent QOF achievement and a supportive PHCT. The practice is an active
member of the local Research Consortium and seeks a committed person who
will be keen to become part of the team.
- A salaried GP is required for a fixed term contract to provide
six months maternity leave cover from beginning of October 2008 for six
sessions a week including on-call (no out-of-hours). The successful

Bristol University
- GPs to teach medical students are required. As part of their course
medical
students spend time in General Practice in years 1, 2, 3 and 4. GPs provide
students with their first opportunities of talking with patients in year 1
and teach clinical skills in years 2 and 3. In year 4 students spend 4 weeks
shadowing their GP teachers. GP teachers are supported by the teaching and
administrative staff in Primary Care and four regular workshops over the

- The Academic Unit of Primary Health Care is looking for a GP to
work for eight hours a week as a senior teaching fellow to assist with the
organisation and delivery of teaching primary health care to fourth year
medical students. The post holder will be part of an enthusiastic and
dedicated team of educationalists within the department. At present there
are between 240 and 270 students in each year of the MBChB programme. During
their fourth year each of these students spends four weeks attached to one
or two GP surgeries across the South-West and receives over 21 hours of
teaching on the main university campus. The successful applicant will be
encouraged to develop a portfolio of work involving both organising and
delivering teaching to medical students. Applicants should be GPs with
enthusiasm for and experience of teaching, preferably involving
undergraduate medical students.

Easton - A practice nurse is required for
30hours per week to join a dynamic nurse team in a busy inner city practice.
Role to include chronic disease management, family planning, cervical
cytology and well woman. Salary equivalent to Band 6, but dependant on

Filton - A locum is required for six sessions
a week (Monday and Tuesday pm and Thursday and Friday all day for 12 weeks
to start in mid August/September for a small practice while a planned
surgical operation takes place. The practice is fully computerised
(Synergy), well equipped, and has all experienced ancillary staff, and high
QUOF points. Full usual BMA rates will apply. Partnership possibility in the
near future.

- GPs are required for evening sessions (6pm to 8pm) at Her Majesty's
Prison Bristol to work as part of a team providing care for prisoners with
drug and alcohol dependence when they are first taken into prison. Doctors
must be on a PCT GP Performers list and hold the Royal College of General
Practitioners Level 1Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse. Two

Kingswood - A practice nurse is required
to work 16-20 hrs per week on Band 5-7 for a friendly five partner training
practice with 9,000 patients to provide treatment room and health promotion
services. The ideal candidate will have experience of treatment room work
and possess CDM diplomas, though consideration will be given to those who

GP Out of Hours - North
Bristol - Frendoc are recruiting local GPs and nurses to work out of
hours from Southmead. The service is scheduled to open from 1October, but
training and induction can be done from the current base in Frenchay.
Out of hours work by its very nature is well paid. Full training on

- A treatment room nurse is required, ideally competent in travel
vacs, smears, ear syringing, baby immunisations. Training will be provided
as appropriate. Must be confident with PC to record data and willing to work
treatment room sessions individually in conjunction with other nurse lead
clinics and able to work 11 up to 16 hrs per week min.
- A chronic disease nurse is required - should be trained
to provide COPD, diabetes and asthma clinics, in any combination and able to
work six hours per week min. Evening and/or Saturday morning working an
option.
The above posts may be combined or suitable for two persons. There is a
degree of flexibility around hours for suitably qualified applicants. Both
vacancies are for a busy practice of 9675 patients , in modern purpose built
premises with a nursing team of eight staff, led by the nursing manager.
